SALEM, WV - Freshman Rosey Romick (New Matamoras, Ohio / River High) from the Salem International University softball team has been named the Female Student-Athlete of the Week for April 17-23, 2017.
Romick batted .571 (8-for-14) on the week for the Tigers as SIU went 3-3 in six games. She appeared in five of the six games for the Tigers and recorded a pair of three-hit games against West Liberty and Ohio Valley.
She had a .571 slugging percentage and .571 on base percentage for the Tigers and scored a team-high four runs in the six-game stretch for SIU.
Romick went 3-for-3 with a run scored in game two of a doubleheader split against West Liberty on Wednesday afternoon (Apr. 19). Earlier in the day, she recorded a pinch-hit RBI-single and scored a run against the Hilltoppers.
She also went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in game two against Ohio Valley on Sunday afternoon (Apr. 23) and recorded her second-save of the season as the Tigers swept the Fighting Scots.
The Tigers head to Bluefield State for a twin bill against the Blues, that will also be the final road trip of the 2017 season for the Tigers. SIU welcomes in Kentucky State University on Thursday afternoon (Apr. 27) at 1 & 3 p.m. SIU is 5-3 over its last eight games, sweeping both Bluefield State and Ohio Valley.
