SALEM, WV - Junior Kayla Lynch (Painesville, Ohio / Riverside High) from the Salem International University softball team has been named the Female Student-Athlete of the Week for April 24-May 2, 2017.
Lynch went 2-0 on the week for the Tigers, who finished the season 3-1 in their last-four games. She compiled a 3.23 earned run average through 13 innings of work for SIU. She tossed a complete-game against Kentucky State on April 27 as SIU defeated the Thorobreds 11-6.
She also tossed six innings in a 14-4 win against Bluefield State on April 26, striking out nine batters and walking just three.
Lynch recorded a pair of at-bats, going 2-for-2 with one run scored for the Tigers. She finished the season with 10 wins and 16 complete games. Lynch fanned 109 batters through 128.1 innings of work and held batters to a .265 batting average.
