SALEM, WV - Freshman Naomi Smout (Boca Raton, Florida / Boca Raton Community High School) from the Salem International University softball team has been named the Female Student-Athlete of the Week for February 20-27, 2017.

Smout finished the weekend 4-for-10 at the plate with seven runs batted in for SIU and a pair of three-run home runs. She finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored in the Tigers' 27-4 win in game two against Elizabeth City. 

In the four-game stretch, Smout recorded 11 bases and slugged 1.100 for the Tigers. She is batting .333 this season with two homers and one double.

The Tigers head to Charleston on Wednesday afternoon (March 1) for a doubleheader with the University of Charleston (WV) before heading to Glenville State for a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon (March 2).
