SALEM, WV - Freshman Tyler Ault (Bloomery, WV / Hampshire) from the Salem International University baseball team has been named the Male Student-Athlete of the Week for February 6-13, 2017.
Ault went 7-for-13 at plate over the weekend in a three-game series against Erskine College. The freshman shortstop recorded two doubles, four runs scored, and two runs batted in for SIU. His .538 batting average during the series was second-highest on the team and his double that plated a pair of runs in the opening-game of the series would give the Tigers a 4-3 lead.
So far this season, he leads the Tigers with 10 hits, five runs scored, two doubles, and 12 total bases. Ault is batting .435 so far for SIU and has started in each of the Tigers' six games this season.
The Tigers head to Savannah, Georgia this weekend for a four-game series against Armstrong State University. The Pirates are 5-2 on the season and riding a current four-game winning streak and a three-game sweep of Paine.
