SALEM, WV - Freshman Alexia Haislop (Parkersburg, West Virginia / Parkersburg) from the Salem International University women's swimming team has been named the Female Student-Athlete of the Week for January 16-23, 2017.
The Tigers wrapped up their 2016-17 regular season against Davis & Elkins on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 21) in Elkins, West Virginia. SIU combined to tally 66 points between the women's and men's swim teams.
Haislop, along with Kara Kocurek, Olivia Fickes, and Audrey Jones finished second in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:19.21.
In the 200 yard freestyle, Haislop placed third with a time of 2:19.90. She would place second in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:11.14. In the 200 yard backstroke, her time of 2:28.62 was good for second place.
The Tigers compete next at the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina, February 8-11. The four-day event will be hosted by Queens University of Charlotte at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
