SALEM, WV - Sophomore Imari Bowers (Detroit, Mich. / Cass Tech) from the Salem International University women's basketball squad has been named the Female Student-Athlete of the Week for January 2-9, 2017.
Bowers connected on a trio of three-pointers against Ferris State on Monday, Jan. 2 and finished the contest with nine points. In the Tigers only road contest last week, Bowers went 2-of-5 from downtown town against Rio Grande, adding three rebounds.
On Thursday night (Jan. 5) at home against Alderson Broaddus, Bowers scored five points for the Tigers.
Bowers has appeared in 14 games this season for SIU, starting each of the last five contests for the Tigers. She is averaging 4.3 points per game and 17.5 minutes per game.
Her best game this season came on the road against Seton Hill, scoring 15 points and adding seven rebounds. She drained a season-high five treys in the contest.
