Cody Gilmore is in his fourth season as Salem University head women's basketball coach. He served five years as the head assistant coach at Glenville State College, including three years with Charles Marshall and two years with current head coach, Kimberly Stephens.

The 2019-20 team became one of the most prolific scoring teams in Salem women's basketball history. The Tigers matched a 25-year school record with five games of at least 100 points. Salem also set a school record with 40 points in the third period in a 103-64 victory over Ohio Valley. Salem is one of only 14 Division II women's basketball teams to score at least 40 points in a period since women's basketball converted from two 20-minute halves to four 10-minute quarters in 2015-16.

The Tigers compiled an 8-18 record in 2019-20, including a late-season five-game home winning streak. One of the highlights of the winning streak was a 79-78 victory over Alderson-Broaddus, in which Salem rallied from a 16-point deficit.

Salem posted a record of 8-19 in Gilmore's first year. The Tigers finished the 2018-19 season winning four of their final six games.

In Gilmore’s five years as an assistant coach at Glenville State College, the Pioneers went 116-37. He looks to bring an electric, uptempo style of basketball to Salem after helping lead the Pioneers to the highest scoring Division II offense in 2016-17 (94.1 points per game), 2015-16 (89.2 points per game), 2013-14 (97.2 points per game), and 2009-10 (95.9 points per game).

Gilmore was instrumental in the Pioneers’ recruiting and player development process, recruiting and coaching All-American and Mountain East Conference Player of the Year Paris McLeod, and All-Conference Second Team Courtney Davis.

He was an All-State Athlete at Robert C. Byrd High School, lettering three years in football and basketball. He played one year of collegiate basketball at Glenville State College and serve as a student assistant there from 2009-11 under former head coach Bunky Harkleroad. After the 2011 season he transferred to Fairmont State University, where he graduated with a RBA Degree in 2013.
