Born December 20, 1908, David Dodds, Sr. excelled in both basketball and football. He was a very active student at Salem and graduated Cum Laude in 1930.
 
Dodds was rated as one of the best centers in the West Virginia collegiate basketball, with the uncanny ability to toss the ball through the basket. His abilities led to him being named All-WVIAC in 1930.   
 
Dodds also served as Student Federation treasurer for four years and became treasurer of the senior class. He was involced with the Debate Club and served on the YMCA Cabinet.
 
He was an exceptional educator as well as an athlete. Dodds taught and coached for 40 years in Tarentum, Pennsylvania and for five years at North View Junior High in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
 
David B. Dodds, Sr. died on September 26, 1980.
