Born March 6, 1935, David Gibson graduated in 1956 where he was an outstanding basketball and tennis player throughout all four years on campus. He was named to the All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tennis team for his achievements, while he and his twin brother Byron dominated the basketball and tennis courts in 1956.
Gibson was an accomplished scholar as well as an excellent tennis player. He received Laudati awards during his sophomore and junior years for academic excellence and was including in “Who’s Who”
Gibson was always known as a hard worker and his leadership abilities served as model traits for fellow students. Several described the Salem native as one of great integrity.
