Lamont Watkins, a native of Mount Vernon, New York, graduated from Salem-Teikyo in 1994 with a B.S. in Accounting. He was a NAIA honorable mention All-America in 1993 and was selected First Team All-WVIAC first team in 1992, 1993, and 1994. Upon graduating, he held top 10 single-season records for most points, 20-point seasons, most steals in a game, and most steals in a season. He was all-tournament in 1994 and finished his career with 19 PPG and over 2,000 points for his career, good for fourth all-time at the time of his graduation. He finished sixth all-time in career assist at 4.32 per game.
 
He helped lead the Tigers to WVIAC championships in 1993 and 1994, compiling a 35-5 mark over those two seasons. Watkins fueled the Tigers to a sweet sixteen appearance in the 1993 NAIA National Tournament and was part of the #3 seed 1994 team that made back-to-back appearances in the NAIA Tournament.
 
After receiving his degree from Salem, Watkins went on to play in the Los Angeles Clippers summer league before going to play professionally in Japan.
