Loren Green graduated from Salem College in 196 and for three years he played and lettered in football and captained the team his senior year. Twice he was named a West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team linebacker and he was also named to WVIAC's First 50 Years All-Football Team.
Green lettered two years in baseball, and – just as he did with football – served as captain of the team his senior year. His batting average of .426 propelled him to a NAIA All-American Honorable Mention his junior year and a NAIA All-American Third Team selection his senior year.
Green went to get his master’s degree and teach elementary education in Ashland, Ohio for 32 years. He coached fast-pitch softball and golf, with his teams competing in state tournaments four times, one as state champions. Green has personally sent students, some of whom were student-athletes, to Salem.
Due in part to his work beginning in 1981 to gain entry for fast-pitch softball for men as an Olympic Sport, he was elected into the Akron City and Summit County Sports Hall of Fame in 1994, and in 2000, he was elected into the Ashland County Sports Hall of Fame.
