Meitri Widya Pangestika earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Salem Teikyo in 2001. She was born and raised in Indonesia and is the youngest of three siblings.
At the 1998 NCAA Division 11 National Swimming and Diving Meet, Pangestika took first place in the 200-Yard Freestyle and in the 500-Yard Freestyle. In 2000 she took first place in the 200-Yard, Freestyle and the 200-Yard Butterfly. She also placed fifth in the 100-Yard Freestyle and 500-Yard Freestyle.
She set Salem international University Pool Records in the Women’s 100-Yard Freestyle, the 200-Yard Freestyle, the 500-Yard Freestyle, and the 1650-Yard Freestyle. She also currently holds Pool Records for the Women’s 200-Yard Freestyle at the Wooster, Ohio YMCA and the 200-Yard Freestyle at Lock Haven University.
As a 6-time NCAA Division 2 Swimming All-American, she lead Salem International to a 14th-place national finish in 1998 and an 11th-place national finish in 2000.
After graduation, she and her husband, Salem International Swimming alumni Cyrus Crews, went on to work for the British International School in Phuket, Thailand, and established swimming programs at the school.
