Fudala served as captain of the basketball team his senior year, which was when Salem College upset nationally ranked Rio Grande College 100-96. He was the team's scoring leader that year, averaging 22.4 points per game.  Fudala was all-conference in 1953 and 1954 and was selected to the WVIAC All-Time Basketball team in 1974. He was active in campus activities, including the Yanks Club and the Varsity “S” Club.

After graduation, Fudala returned home to Uniontown, Pennsylvania where he coached and taught at Laurel Highlands High School. He rose to athletic director and coached basketball, baseball and track. In recognition of his years of service, Laurel Highlands Gymnasium was renamed Fagler-Fudala Gymnasium. Fudala was also inducted into the American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame.

Fudala met and married his wife his June while at Salem, and they are proud parents of three children and five grandchildren.
