Slippery Rock, Pa. - Salem International University's women's basketball team outscored homestanding Slippery Rock in the second half, but it wasn't enough to erase the first half defecit at the Rock went on to win, 66-43, at the Morrow Field House in Slippery Rocky, Pa.
The Tigers start off their season with a 0-1 (0-0 G-MAC) spot while Slippery Rock is now 1-0.
Shakinah Haggins registered a double-double in the game, netting a game-high 16 points (7-15 shooting) to go along with 10 boards.
Inkera Patterson and
Samantha Aikens scored 10 apiece. Patterson scored all of her points in the second frame.
Salem will continue their road trip when they take part in the 2014 G-MAC / GLIAC Challenge beings held in Painesville, Ohio over the weekend. The Tigers are scheduled to take on Lake Erie on Saurday at 7:30 PM and Walsh University on Sunday at 1:30 PM.
