Game sheet vs. IonaNEW YORK (Oct. 24) – The Tigers were dealt a pair of losses by NCAA Division I schools Fordham and Iona by scores of 16-9 and 16-13 Friday and Saturday afternoon.
The losses send the Salem International University water polo team to 2-10 overall this season, with two more regular season matches until the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Division Championships.
Sophomore
Djordje Stavrevski (Pancevo, Serbia/Sportska Gimnazjia Beograd) led the Tigers with four goals in their 16-9 loss to Fordham on Friday night.
Freshman
Inigo Velasco (Madrid, Spain/Colegio San Agustin) paced the team in their 16-13 loss to Iona. Velasco scored four times, including a goal just before halftime to narrow the deficit to 8-7, to lead the Tigers.
Salem International is back in the pool twice next Saturday, Oct. 31 when the team heads north to Erie, Pennsylvania to take on Penn St-Behrend at 12 p.m. and Gannon at 7 p.m.
