Box Score ETTRICK, Va. (Dec. 19) – The Tigers closed out the 2015 portion of their schedule with a 79-42 loss at Virginia State Saturday afternoon in non-conference play.
The loss drops the Salem International University women's basketball team to 2-10 overall, while the Trojans improve to 5-6 this season.
Senior
Samantha Aiken (Hilton Head Island, S.C./Hilton Head) led the Tigers with 22 points, five rebounds and four steals. The South Carolina native shot 7 of 15 from the field to account for more than half of Salem International's scoring and played a team-high 36 minutes in the game.
Virginia State moved the ball well in the game to earn the win. The Trojans were credited with 20 assists on 28 made field goals in the win. Three players scored in double-figures for Virginia State, with Nandi Taylor scoring 12 points to lead the team.
The Tigers take a break for the holidays before kicking-off Great Midwest Athletic Conference play on Jan. 4 when they host Ohio Valley at 5 p.m.
