SALEM, WV - The Salem International University women's volleyball squad dropped a four-set match (21-25, 21-25, 25-14, 23-25) to Ursuline College on Friday afternoon (Oct. 14) despite getting a match-high 15 kills from junior outside hitter
Rachel Hess.
After dropping each of the first two sets to Ursuline, the Tigers would rally in the third set to earn a 25-14 victory. SIU tallied nine kills and limited the Arrows to seven kills and a -.105 hitting percentage.
Sophomore outside hitter
Sophie Freihofer finished the match with six kills and a team-high five digs for the Tigers, while junior middle hitter
Alessandra Marquez recorded six kills and three blocks.
The Tigers looked to send the match to a decisive fifth-set but would come up short as the Arrows rallied late in set number four en route to a 25-23 victory that secured the match.
Sophomore middle hitter
Tallora Soriano led the Tigers with 16 assists while also serving three aces.
Ashly Holt also helped guide the SIU offerense, recording 15 assists.
