GREENSBURG, PA - The Salem International University women's basketball team was in search of its second win of the season on Monday afternoon (Dec. 19) against Seton Hill University. The Tigers and Griffins would find themselves in a tight battle for a majority of the contest until the third quarter. Seton Hill would convert 8-of-9 opportunities at the free throw line in the third quarter, propelling them to a 73-62 victory against SIU in NCAA Division II Women's Basketball action.

Keishla Gilmore scored a team-high 16 points and added seven assists, while teammate
Jiahna Flood-Francis tallied 15 points and four steals for the Tigers.
Imari Bowers also notched 15 points for SIU, getting her first start of the season and pulling-down seven rebounds in the process.
The Tigers hit the road for one final game to close-out the month of December. SIU heads to Elizabeth City for a 2 PM tip-off on Friday afternoon (Dec. 30). Freshman
Quamilla Jackson led the Tigers offensive charge against Seton Hill in the first-half of action. Jackson scored 10 points, going 4-of-6 from the floor and 2-of-2 at the charity stripe for SIU. Bowers would also have a strong opening 20-minutes for SIU, scoring six points while recording a team-high seven rebounds. Gilmore captained the Tigers' offense, handing-out five assists while scoring seven points in the process.
Seton Hill held a small 15-13 lead after the first quarter of action and a 33-31 lead at halftime. The Griffins received 10 points each from Jenna Kaufman and Alexandra Hay. The two combined to score 20 of Seton Hill's 33 points in the half as Kaufman finished 4-of-7 from the floor, and Kay 3-of-4 from the floor and 3-of-5 at the free throw line. Chrisanna Green fell just short of hitting double figures in rebounds, recording nine in the first-half for the Griffins.
Both teams recorded identical stats in the second quarter with SIU and Seton Hill hitting 7-of-16 shots from the floor. The half would see the score tied on six occasions and the lead change hands nine times.
The third quarter would be where the Griffins would find some breathing room on the scoreboard. Seton Hill out-scored SIU 19-14 to take a 52-45 advantage. The Tigers connected on more field-goals (6) in the quarter than Seton Hill (5) but the difference for the Griffins would come at the free throw line. Seton Hill went 8-of-9 at the charity stripe, while the Tigers found themselves at the line just twice.
The Tigers would keep pace with Seton Hill in the fourth quarter as the Griffins edged the Tigers 21-17 in scoring. SIU had several chances late in the contest to cut even more into the Seton Hill lead with the Griffins not scoring in the games final 2:02. SIU struggled from the floor down the line, connecting on 5-of-19 shots from the floor. The Tigers did hit a trio of three's and go 4-of-6 at the free throw line.
Seton Hill weathered the storm that was the fourth quarter by connecting on 8-of-12 shots from the floor. Seton Hill turned the ball over 10 times in the second-half, allowing SIU to record 10 points off of those miscues. The x-factor for Seton in the second-half would be the play of Halie Torris. After failing to score a point in the opening stanza, Torris scored 12 points off of the bench for Seton Hill on 4-of-10 shooting with three of her buckets coming from downtown.
SIU would score with 48 seconds remaining in the contest to cut the score to 73-62 but get no closer than that. Seton Hill's bench out-scored SIU 18-0 in the contest with six coming from Hannah Laslo and 12 from Torris.
Jackson finished the contest with 12 points for SIU on 5-of-10 shooting and five rebounds. Junior
Christy Gonzalez tallied four points for the Tigers and recorded a team-high eight rebounds.
Kaufman paced the Griffins' offense with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting and five rebounds. Green added 15 points and a game-high 16 rebounds for Seton Hill, while Hay chipped in with 12 points and four assists.
The Tigers shot 35.9 percent from the floor (23-of-64) in the contest and 26.3 percent from three-point range (5-of-19) while going 11-of-14 at the charity stripe. Seton Hill shot 47.3 percent from the floor (26-of-55), 7-of-24 from three-point range, and 14-of-17 at the free throw line. The Griffins out-scored SIU 38-30 inside of the paint and 14-8 on second-chance buckets. The Tigers scored 14 points off of Seton Hill turnovers, while the Griffins scored 11. Seton Hill recorded 41 rebounds to the Tigers' 34 and tallied 18 assists compared to Salem's 10 in the contest.
