PEPPER PIKE, Ohio (Feb. 13) – The Tigers were knocked off 102-59 at Ursuline in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play Saturday afternoon.
The loss sends the Salem International University women's basketball team to 1-11 in the G-MAC, 3-21 overall. Meanwhile, the Arrows improve to 20-3 overall, 9-2 in league play this season.
Seniors
TaShay Smith (Baltimore, Md./Overlea) and
Samantha Aiken (Hilton Head Island, S.C./Hilton Head) each finished with 13 points, with Aiken adding four assists and a team-best eight rebounds to her final line.
The Arrows finished the game with a 37-27 edge on the glass, highlighted by a 23-5 advantage in second-chance points. After keeping the game close through the first quarter, the Tigers struggled from long range in the second half, shooting 18 percent (3 of 17). Meanwhile, Ursuline built a large lead behind 42 percent shooting (12 of 28) from three-point range for the game.
Ursuline's Laney Lewis led the Arrows with 16 points in the win.
The Tigers will take a break from G-MAC play next week with a pair of non-conference games, beginning with a road trip to former conference foe Central State on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.
