Salem splits twinbill with Alderson Broaddus

SALEM, W.Va. (April 14) – The Tigers traded wins with Alderson Broaddus, falling 8-0 in game one, before claiming a 7-3 win in game two in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play Thursday afternoon.

The Salem International University softball team (17-19, 7-13 G-MAC) was led at the plate by sophomore catcher Hanna Crew (Canton, Ohio/Perry) in the 7-3 win. She finished 3-for-3, a home run shy of the cycle, with three RBI in the win.

Senior Katie Chryssofos (Chapmanville, W.Va./Logan), making her first starts of the season at second base, connected on a three-run home run, which gave Salem the lead in the fourth inning and scored the eventual game-winning runs. Sophomore Alessandra Marquez (Brawley, Calif./Brawley Union) added her first-collegiate RBI in the win.

Sophomore pitcher Katie Holestin (Covington, Va./Allegheny) improved to 7-10 this season after limiting the Battlers to three runs (two earned) on nine hits with one strikeout.
