FAIRMONT, W.Va. (Sept. 1) – The Salem International University women's soccer team opened the 2016 season with an 8-0 loss at Fairmont State Thursday afternoon at Duvall-Rosier Stadium.

The Tigers (0-1) held the Falcons to just one goal in the second half, after yielding several goals in the first half. Salem International was outshot 19-to-4 in the contest, but limited the Falcons to just one shot in the second half.

Junior Amanda Allred (Ely, Nev./White Pine) made four saves in her Tiger debut. Freshman Jenna Hill (West Newton, Ind./Decatur Central) led the squad with two shot attempts, while sophomores Audrey Jones (North Yarmouth, Maine/Winslow) and Keishla Gilmore (Philadelphia, Pa./Mariana Bracetti) each chipped in one apiece.

Salem International returns to the pitch this Saturday for its home-opening game when it hosts Indianapolis at 1 p.m.
