Women's soccer defeats Trinity 6-0

Kelsea Freiling scores six goals.

Box Score SALEM, W. VA. (Oct. 6, 2017) – Kelsea Freiling scored a hat trick in the second half and four goals total for the match to lead the Salem International University (SIU) Tigers women's soccer team to a 6-0 victory over Division III Trinity Washington University.

Freiling scored the first goal of the match a little more than 12 minutes in, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. She followed that up with her second goal a minute into the second half on a penalty kick, sneaking a rolling shot past the goalie into the back-right corner of the net.

She scored again at the 53 and 70-minute marks, scoring her fourth on a beautiful assist from Julia Nilsson. Five minutes later, Kiera Johnson found Brianna Vasquez for a great cross to Auli Hanks for another goal. Beth Rivas Rosas capped off the night with the Tigers' sixth goal.

For the match, the Tigers put up 30 shots while stifling Trinity, holding them without a shot on goal.

With the win, SIU improves to 3-8 for the season. Its next two matches will be at home, facing Lock Haven University on Oct. 9 at 2 p.m., and Lincoln University on Oct. 18.
