SALEM, WV - The Salem International University men's basketball team was blitzed by 12 first-half three's from the Malone University Pioneers. Malone went 19-of-36 from downtown in the game en route to a 106-79 victory against the Tigers. Ty Jordan finished with a game-high 25 points for Malone, while junior
Jordan Robinson scored a team-high 15 points for SIU.
Robinson finished the contest 4-of-10 from downtown and 3-of-4 at the free-throw line for the Tigers. Senior

Jarius Farrow each tallied 14 points for SIU, while junior
Hollis Alexander added 11 points for the Tigers.
The Tigers have two games left in the 2016-17 regular season as SIU heads to Kentucky Wesleyan on Monday afternoon (Feb. 20) for a 2 p.m. tip-off against the Panthers. SIU will honor seniors
Victor Blakey and
Dominique Robinson prior to Wednesday night's (Feb. 22) contest at home against Ohio Valley University at 7 p.m.
Malone showed from the opening-tip that they came ready to play against the Tigers, leaping out to an 11-2 lead after a trey from Jordan. Junior
Saquan Epps hit a three for SIU with 12:46 left in the opening stanza to cut the Pioneers' lead to 17-9. A nine-point for Malone upped its lead to 37-18 with 7:39 remaining as Mitchell Spotleson hit a short-jumper in the paint.
Blakey and Robinson scored a team-high six points a piece for the Tigers in the first-half as SIU went 11-of-33 from the floor and 4-of-12 from downtown. The Pioneers went 22-of-40 from the floor and 12-of-22 from three-point range to take a 56-27 lead into the break.
SIU would out-score Malone in the second-half (52-50) but be unable to close the gap between the two in the end. The Tigers' bench added 26 points in the second-half with Alexander and Farrow each scoring nine points. Junior
Jordan Gaither tallied eight points off of the bench for the Tigers, going 3-of-6 from the floor and 2-of-4 from downtown in the half.
Brandon Bapst paced the Pioneers in the second-half, by going 4-of-4 from the free-throw line and draining 3-of-4 three's for 13 points. Christian Graves was also money from downtown in the half for Malone, hitting all three shots that he took from behind the line. Both teams would frequent the free-throw line in the second-half with SIU going 16-of-23 and Malone 13-of-16.
Jordan finished with six assists and two steals to go along with his 25 points for Malone, while Spotleson recorded a game-high nine rebounds. Daylan Haynie dished-out a game-high seven helpers for the Pioneers.
SIU finished the game 26-of-73 from the floor, 10-of-33 from downtown, and 17-of-28 at the free-throw line, while Malone went 37-of-73 from the floor, 19-of-36 from downtown, and 13-of-16 at the charity stripe. Malone out-rebounded SIU 47-22 and out-scored the Tigers 34-28 in the paint. SIU did force 13 turnovers in the contest, resulting in 15 points. The Tigers also recorded four blocks and six steals in the game.
