SALEM, VA - Junior
Hanna Crew got the Salem International University Tigers off to a great start on Saturday morning (March 11) with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning against Mercyhurst University. The Lakers would rally for a 12-2 victory with a seven-run second inning. SIU dropped its second game of the day (8-0) against Edinboro.

Vanessa Jimenez each recorded a hit for the Tigers in the first game against the Lakers.
Junior
Tori Butler gave the Tigers a base runner in the bottom of the first inning after getting hit by a pitch on the left elbow with one out. Crew then drilled a 2-0 pitch over the fence in left center to give SIU a 2-0 lead.
The Lakers and their aggressive base running knotted the game 2-2 against freshman
Rosey Romick in the top of the second inning. Mercyhurst wasn't finished as they plated five more runs to take a 7-2 lead.
The SIU offense would go quiet against the Lakers moving into the third inning. Errors would allow the Lakers to increase their lead to 10-0 in the top of the third inning.
Mercyhurst added a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning and would defeat the Tigers 12-2. Romick (0-2) suffered the loss for the Tigers, while junior
Katie Holestin tossed 2.2 innings in-relief.
Game two saw the Fighting Scots of Edinboro click on all cylinders, scoring six runs in the first two innings of the contest. Edinboro would then add two more runs in the bottom of the third inning.
The Tigers would record one hit in the contest as junior pitcher
Kayla Lynch delivered a single for the Tigers in the top of the third inning.
Lynch (4-6) suffered the loss for the Tigers, allowing eight runs (one earned) on five hits with three walks and two strikeouts. SIU committed five errors behind Lynch in the contest and saw Edinboro starter Carley Nasca toss a complete-game one hitter, fanning three batters over five innings of work.
