GLENVILLE, WV - The Salem International University Tigers saw the Glenville State Pioneers score a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning and two more in the fourth inning en route to a 5-1 victory on Wednesday afternoon (Mar. 22) at the Sue Morris Complex. Senior
Donato Gallano finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate for the Tigers.
Sophomore
Jimmy Cramer continued his hot-hitting for the Tigers, going 2-for-3 at the plate with one run batted in as five other Tiger bats combined for a 10-hit attack for SIU in the losing effort.
The Tigers return home on Thursday afternoon (Mar. 23) to host Fairmont State at Frank Loria Memorial Field with the first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.

Josh VanMeter in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run double. SIU answered with a run in the top of the second inning as Cramer singled to left field with the bases loaded and two outs for the Tigers. Junior
Zach Mullinax looked to even the score for the Tigers but would come-up just short with a fly ball to left field.
VanMeter kept the Tigers within a run of the Pioneers until the bottom of the fourth inning as GSC delivered back-to-back two-out doubles to increase its lead to 4-1. The Pioneers then scored once in the fifth inning and would chase VanMeter from the contest in lew of sophomore
Jordan Wagner, making it a 5-1 game.
The Tigers would have their chances against Pioneers starter K. Bennington, who allowed eight hits over his six innings on the mound. GSC would look to the bullpen to finish the game after Bennington exited to start the seventh. SIU would combine for two hits against three Pioneers relievers over the final three frames.
Wagner did his part on the mound for a small SIU pitching staff, holding the Pioneers scoreless over the final 3.2 innings and surrendering just two hits.
J. Finnemore worked a 1-2-3 top of the ninth inning to preserve the 5-1 victory for the Pioneers on their home turf. VanMeter (0-4) was dealt with the loss for the Tigers after surrendering five runs on nine hits in 4.1 innings of work. Wagner fanned two batters and walked one in his time on the mound for the Tigers.
K. Johnston led the GSC offensive attack with a 3-for-5 effort at the plate, while teammate T. Helms went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for the Pioneers.
