Box Score SALEM, W. VA. (Sept. 9, 2017)—The Salem International University (SIU) Tigers struggled in the second half of its match against Malone University, losing 4-1 to the Pioneers.
With the loss, the Tigers drop to 1-3 on the season. The Pioneers improve to 1-1.

Brianna Vasquez roughly 35 minutes into the match and SIU goalie
Emily Pontiakos recorded three first half saves to give Salem a 1-0 halftime lead.
"The first half was perfect; the best we could ask for," Tigers Head Coach
Kennedy Kabiru said. "In the second half, they used their bench to wear us out." Â
After a tough first half, Malone's depth broke through in the second, scoring on an unassisted goal from Danielle Lung three minutes into the first half. The floodgates opened one hour into the match with three Malone University (two from Kirsten Hilty, one from Amanda Kinsey) goals to score four in 20 minutes.
Pontiakos recorded seven saves on 17 Malone shots.
Next week, the Tigers will host Concord University on Sept. 9 at 3 p.m. at Catalano Stadium.
