Box Score BECKLEY, W. Va. (Sept. 24, 2017) – The Salem International University (SIU) Tigers women's soccer team surrendered two goals in the second half, losing 2-1 in its match against the West Virginia Tech (WVT) Golden Bears.
The Tigers scored the first goal of the match late into the first half when a free kick by
Jasmine Seaton hit the post and was recover and knocked in by
Auli Hanks for her second goal of the season to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Emily Pontiakos took a barrage of 16 shots on goal, saving 14, including 10 in the second half. The Golden Bears scored their first goal 66 minutes and 40 seconds into the match on shot on the right side from Lorena Moyers, assisted by Johanna Ribacke.
Less than 10 minutes later, Tyler Graves scored the game-winning goal on a free kick that bounced just over Pontiakos' outstretched hands.
For the game, West Virginia Tech held a 27-6 advantage in shots, holding the Tigers to just one attempt in the second half and only four shots on goal for the game. The Golden Bears also had a 6-1 lead in corner kicks while both teams finished with 11 fouls each.
With the loss, the Tigers drop to 2-6 on the season while the Golden Bears stopped a three-game losing streak to go back over .500 at 5-4. SIU will travel to Vienna, W. Va. on Sept. 26 for a match against Ohio Valley University at 3:30 p.m. Live stats and streaming can be found by
