Box Score PHILIPPI, W. Va. (Jan. 9, 2018) – The Salem University Tigers women's basketball team lost on the road to the Alderson Broaddus University Battlers by a score of 77-58.
Keishla Gilmore led three Tigers in double figures with 17 points on 6-for-14 shooting and a game-high nine rebounds.
Salem's defense was porous inside, surrendering a 48-28 points in the paint advantage to Alderson Broaddus. The Battlers shot 45.6 percent for the game despite hitting just 2-for-12 (16/7 percent) from the 3-point line—led by Jordan Parker's 24 points (on 10-for-20 shooting).
Danielle Franklin and Devyn Bonner contributed 14 points each for the Battlers, who had an 8-2 edge in second-chance points and a 17-10 advantage in bench points.
The Tigers struggled from the field, shooting just 18-for-61 (29.5 percent), including 2-for-18 from the 3-point line. Salem was able to get to the free-throw line 29 times, hitting 20, led by
Jillian Romero's 6-for-6 shooting.
Aaliyah Dotson finished with 12 points and Romero ahs 11 points and four assists.
With the loss, the Tigers fall to 4-12 on the season and 2-7 on the road. Salem will return to action at home on Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. against Concord University.
