ERIE, Pa. – The Salem University men's water polo team split two matches with a win against McKendree 13-9 and fell to Gannon 18-12, Saturday.
With the split, the Tigers record moves to 5-9.
Game One
In the first contest, Salem defeated McKendree 13-9. Earlier in the season, McKendree defeated the Tigers 15-14 in a close battle at home.
The Tigers were led by junior
Milos Popovic who notched four goals, while sophomore
Petar Leontijevic added in three goals.
Sophomore
Michael Rojas and freshman
Austin Kephart generated two goals, whereas junior
Robert Juhas and classmate
Salvador Orozco each netted one goal.
Senior
Mateo Kozomara had an impressive match with 12 saves.
Game Two
In a scrappy, hard-fought match, the Tigers fell to Gannon 18-12.
The Tigers were led by senior
Inigo Velasco who netted a team-high three goals, while Leontijevic and Popovic each produced two goals.
Juhas, freshman
Mike Diaz, sophomore
Uros Jevtic and Rojas scored one goal each.
The Tigers are back in play tomorrow for an exhibition match against Mt. San Antonio at 2:30 in Washington, Pa. The Tigers travel to the College Water Polo Association Championships on October 13th with a match against Mercyhurst with a time to be determined.
