Box Score 2 SALEM, W.Va.- The Salem University volleyball team came up just short against Glenville State 3-2 and Rio Grande (Ohio) 3-2.
GAME ONE
Salem matched up with Glenville State in the first game of the tri-match. Salem fell in five sets (10-25, 25-18, 25-23, 22-25, 16-18) as they battled back and forth with the Pioneers.
The Tigers led the Pioneers in blocks 16-9, however, they trailed in every other major statistical category. Glenville led Salem in digs (81-65), kills (60-37) and aces (10-7).
The Tigers fought hard but took a difficult loss. However, the team had to push aside and prepare for the next match later in the evening against Rio Grande.
GAME TWO
The Tigers battled in all five sets (26-24, 11-25, 25-21, 20-25, 12-15) against Rio Grande but was unable to come out with a win.
The Red Storm led Salem in all major statistical categories including assists, (44-41), digs (94-87) and kills (46-41), however, both teams had a total of 17 blocks.
Freshman
Amy Turbak led the Tigers with 22 digs, while Lilly and Isaac added six block assists. Lilly and Moser both had a team-high of nine kills.
The Tigers travel to West Virginia State University as they will play Bluefield State and Bowie State on Friday at 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. respectively.
