RALEIGH, N.C. –The Salem University women's basketball team dropped a road contest to Shaw 84-77, Monday night.
Salem drops to 3-14 with the loss, while Shaw improves to 5-12.
The Tigers were 32.1 percent (27-84) from the field and 30.4 percent (14-46) from three, while Shaw shot 55.6 percent (30-54) from the field and 57.1 percent (4-7) from three.
Salem was outrebounded 50-36 but grabbed 20 offensive rebounds to Shaw's 11.
The Tigers forced Shaw to 38 turnovers, while Salem posted 22. Shaw poured in 44 points in the paint to Salem's 22.

Precious Price led the charge for the Tigers as she netted a team-high 21 points on 5-8 from behind the arc, while freshman
Daniela Quesada-Villalobos added 15 points and two rebounds.

Aaliyah Holmes notched 13 points, grabbed two rebounds and dished out two assists.
Salem started the game off with a quick bucket as freshman
Nia Bishop drove the lane and made a layup just 12 seconds into the game for a 2-0 lead over Shaw. With 3:23 remaining in the first quarter, Shaw captured a 15-point lead over the Tigers after a made three-pointer as Shaw led Salem 25-10.
The Tigers cut the lead to six in the second quarter after Quesada-Villalobos connected with a layup at 9:24 as Salem trailed 26-20. But Shaw went on a 14-0 run as they led Salem 40-20 with 4:37 remaining in that half.
Salem chipped away at the lead and cut it to six at 7:13 in the third quarter as Shaw led 53-47, but Shaw extended the lead to 11 at the end of the third as it led 65-52.
In the fourth quarter, Salem found itself down by 15 with 8:04 remaining in the game, but the Tigers ensued with a 16-2 run to cut the lead to one as they trailed Shaw 72-71 with 4:04 left in the game. A few possessions later, Price knocked down a pair of free throws to knot the game at 73-73 with 3:08 remaining in the contest.
Shaw ended the game on an 11-4 run to close out the Tigers 84-77.
Salem is back in action Wednesday as it hosts Central State at 5:30 p.m.
