Salem University's second-half comeback attempt came up short as nationally eighth-ranked Daemen College pulled away for an 89-59 victory over the Tigers. The loss snapped Salem's three-game winning streak.

Salem (4-4) trailed by 20 early in the second half before three-pointers by
Malique Ross and
Jordan Forbes helped pull the Tigers within 58-47 with 11:43 left to play. Daemen (9-1) used an 11-2 run to push the lead back to 20 and Salem never got closer than 15 the rest of the way.

In the first half,
Scott McGann's three-pointer pulled Salem within 10-8, but Daemen answered with a 10-1 run to build the lead to double figures. The Wildcats extended the lead to 18 before back-to-back jumpers by
Aleksa Dobrijevic pulled the Tigers within 32-20 with 5:40 left before halftime. Daemen limited Salem to two field goals the remainder of the half and led 41-24 at the break.

Forbes led the Tigers with 15 points to go with five rebounds and five assists. McGann added 11 points.

Salem is off until Tuesday when the Tigers travel to Pittsburgh, Pa., for a rematch against Point Park University. The Tigers defeated the Pioneers 93-86 in the first meeting November 23 at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.
Marko Tutunovic posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
