Salem University fell to University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown 97-65 in NCAA Division II women's basketball Wednesday at Johnstown, Pa.
Nia Bishop led the Tigers with 14 points, while
Endia Jones pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.

After trailing by as many as 12 points in the first quarter,
Aaliyah Holmes' layup on Salem's first possession of the second quarter pulled the Tigers within 31-23. Pittsburgh-Johnstown (7-1) scored the next 10 points and the margin stayed in double figures the remainder of the game.

A three-pointer by
Precious Price and a layup by
Daniela Quesada pulled Salem (1-6) within 41-28, but Pittsburgh-Johnstown ended the half on a 15-5 run to take a 56-33 halftime lead.

Quesada finished with 10 points and shared game-high honors with Jones with three steals. Holmes added nine points, while
Reeva Jackson finished with seven rebounds.

Salem returns to action Saturday as the Tigers play host to Virginia State University. Saturday's contest marks the ninth meeting all-time between the two teams and the first meeting in three years. Tip-off is 2 p.m. at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.
