FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.– The Salem University baseball team was clipped against Georgia Southwestern 7-6, Sunday.
The loss drops Salem to 0-3, while Georgia Southwestern improves to 2-1.
Junior Sam Champman started the game on the hill for the Tigers as he allowed three hits and three earned runs but tossed six strikeouts with 20 batters faced.
Senior
Harrison Hollis recorded two hits, scored two runs and notched one RBI in four at-bats, while junior
Tyler Ault generated two hits and scored two runs in three at-bats with one RBI.
Senior
Jimmy Cramer garnered three RBI and one hit in three at-bats.
The Tigers started the game off strong as Cramer recorded his first RBI of the day, grounding out to the second baseman, bringing home sophomore
Tyler D'Alessandro for a 1-0 lead. A few moments later, Hollis crossed the plate to extend the lead to 2-0.
In the top of the third, Georgia Southwestern added three runs on two home runs to take a 3-2 lead.
In the bottom half of the third, Cramer doubled to left field and notched his second and third RBI of the day and brought home Ault and Hollis to push the lead to 4-3.

Dalton Robison crossed home plate for a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Jump to the bottom of the seventh, Hollis doubled to left field and notched an RBI as Ault crossed the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning as the Tigers led 6-3.
In the top of the eight, GSW added a run to cut the Tigers' lead to 6-4.
GSW powered back in the ninth inning to take a 7-6 lead scoring three runs. In the bottom half of the ninth, the Tigers failed to get anyone on base as the first three batters were out.
Salem hits the road again on Friday as it matches up against Claflin at 5:00 p.m.
