Tigers Sweep Series 3-0 Against Lane

NUTTER FORT, W.Va. – The Salem University baseball team swept the series 3-0 over Lane with a 12-3 win, on a warm and sunny day at Frank Loria Memorial Field, Sunday. 
 
With the win, Salem improves to 10-8, while Lane drops to 3-8. 
 
Junior pitcher Walker Dodero is credited with the win (4-1) as he allowed three hits and had one earned run with six strikeouts in five innings pitched. 
 
Junior Tyler Ault was 3-3 from the plate with four runs scored, three RBI and two home runs, while junior Dalton Robison was 2-5 with a home run and three RBI. 
 
The Tigers' bats were rolling early as senior Isaiah Arroyo doubled to right center to score senior Jimmy Cramer and Ault for a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Senior Thirus Jones singled to center field to score Arroyo for a 3-0 advantage. 
 
Lane added two runs in the top of the second to cut the Tigers' lead to 3-2. 
 
In the bottom of the second Salem added two runs off runs batted in from sophomore Austin Whetzel and Arroyo to expand the lead to 5-2. 
 
Ault hit his first home run of the afternoon in the bottom of the fourth as he connected with a solo shot to left field for a 6-2 advantage. 
 
Jump to the bottom of the sixth inning and Ault hit his second home run of the afternoon as he blasted it to over the left field wall again. In the next at-bat, Cramer hit his second home run of the year as Salem led 8-3. 
 
A few batters later Robison hit his team-leading sixth home run of the season as he hit a three-run bomb to left field for an 11-3 lead over Lane. 
 
The Tigers are back in action Tuesday as they host Charleston for their thirteenth-straight home game at the Frank with the first pitch set at 12:00 p.m.
