PHILIPPI, W.Va. –The Salem University baseball team dropped a road contest to Alderson Broaddus 17-5, Tuesday afternoon.
With the loss, the Tigers drop to 24-24 overall.
Junior
Tyler Ault led the way offensively batting 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and two home runs, while senior
Harrison Hollis was 2-for-2 with one run scored.
The Tigers scored the first run of the game as Ault hit a sacrifice fly to right field as Hollis crossed home for a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
ABU added four runs in the bottom of the second, and one run in the third and fourth innings as it led Salem 7-1.
In the top of the fifth, Ault launched his first home run of the game to left field to cut the lead to 7-2.
The Battlers offense scored 10 runs form the bottom of the fifth to the bottom of the eighth to take a 17-2 lead.
In the top of the ninth, junior
Walker Dodero hit his sixth home run in five games as he hit a solo shot to left field, while Ault hit his second homer of the game as he blasted a two-run shot to left field as the Tigers trailed 17-5.
Salem hits the road and is back in action Thursday as it faces Claflin at 11:00 a.m. in the Independent Baseball Championship in Marion, N.C.
