Isabelle Lones recorded 17 saves in her first start in goal for Salem University and the Tigers kept the match even for nearly 30 minutes before Fairmont State University pulled away for a 9-0 victory in NCAA Division II women's soccer Wednesday at Catalano Stadium.

Salem's defense came up with two key stops in the 11th minute as the Tiger wall blocked an indirect free kick from just above the 18.
Tamara Queiroz followed by clearing a loose ball from directly in front of the goal. Salem (0-3) was also able to preserve the shutout when a Fairmont State shot caromed off the crossbar.

Fairmont State broke the deadlock in the 30th minute when Mackenzie Gillispie crossed from the left to Louise Welch, who scored from 15 yards out. The Falcons scored three more goals in the next 10 minutes and took a 4-0 lead into halftime. Fairmont State scored a pair of goals in a two-minute span starting in the 50th minutes and scored its last two goals in the final three minutes of the contest.

Salem heads east for a pair of matches this weekend. The Tigers are in Philadelphia, Pa., Friday to take on Chestnut Hill College, then travel to Orangeburg, N.Y., for a Sunday match-up against Dominican College.
