Salem University fell to Davis and Elkins College 25-17, 25-9, 25-11 in NCAA Division II volleyball Tuesday at Elkins, W.Va.
Jalavia Johnson and
Liane Moser led the Tigers with four kills apiece.
The opening set saw nine ties and four lead changes in the early going as Salem rallied from a three-point deficit. An ace by
Kyana Cardenas and kills by
Makhia Hinton,
Autumn Southern and
Elise Valdez helped put the Tigers on top 11-10. Davis and Elkins answered with a 5-0 run and the Tigers never got any closer than three points the remainder of the set.
Davis and Elkins jumped out to fast starts in each of the next two sets to seal the win.
Salem returns to action Thuursday as the Tigers travel to Glenville, W.Va., to take on Glenville State College. Match time is 7 p.m.
