Salem University puts its four-game home winning streak on the line as the Tigers play host to Bluefield State College in NCAA Division II women's basketball Saturday at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium. Tip-off is 2 p.m. and is the opening game of a doubleheader with Tiger men's basketball against Bluefield State.

Salem (7-16) erased a 16-point first-half deficit and
Nerea Arambarri Fernandez hit the deciding free throws with 4.9 seconds left as the Tigers defeated Alderson Broaddus University 79-78 Monday at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium. Fernandez led the Tigers with 16 points.

The Tigers are unbeaten at home since returning from Christmas Break. Salem's average margin of victory in the first three games was 34 points before Monday's one-point squeaker.

Bluefield State (14-10) won 64-45 Wednesday at Penn State-Beaver.

In the first meeting January 25 at Bluefield State, Salem was held to nine points in the fourth quarter and fell to the Blues 73-65.
Endia Jones and
Precious Price led the Tigers with 12 points apiece, while
Nia Bishop recorded five steals.

After Saturday's contest, Salem still has two regular season games remaining. The Tigers travel to nationally 18th-ranked Kentucky Wesleyan Tuesday and then play host to Ursuline College Thursday in a make-up game. Inclement weather and dangerous road conditions forced the postponement of the originally scheduled contest January 18.
