Salem University begins its final week of the 2019-20 season this afternoon as the Tigers travel to Owensboro, Ky., to take on nationally 18th-ranked Kentucky Wesleyan College in NCAA Division II women's basketball. Tip-off is 3:15 p.m. (Eastern).

Salem (8-16) recorded a pair of home wins last week. The Tigers rallied from 16 points down to defeat Alderson Broaddus University 79-78 last Monday and pulled away for an 88-56 victory over Bluefield State College Saturday.
Nerea Arambarri Fernandez hit the game-winning free throws with 4.9 seconds left against Alderson Broaddus and scored a game-high 18 points against Bluefield State.

Salem continues to be ranked nationally in the top 10 in three team statistical categories. The Tigers rank fourth in three-point field goals (10.7 per game), ninth in scoring offense (81.5 points per game) and 10th in offensive rebounds (16.8 per game). Individually,
Nia Bishop ranks 11th in the nation with 2.96 steals per contest.

Kentucky Wesleyan (25-1) defeated Trevecca Nazarene University 78-41 Saturday.

The Tigers and Panthers are facing each other for the first time in three years.

Salem concludes its season Thursday at home against Ursuline College in a make-up game postponed from January.
