Salem University concludes the month of February on the road as the Tigers travel to Elizabeth City, N.C., for a four-game baseball series against Mid-Atlantic Christian University. The two teams sandwich single games today and Sunday around a doubleheader Saturday.

Salem (2-7) got in the win column last weekend with victories over Cedarville University and Kentucky State University during four games at Frankfort, Ky. The Tigers opened with an 11-inning 5-4 victory over Cedarville as
Carson Ellis pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to secure the win.
Dominic Curole recorded 15 strikeouts on the mound and helped his own cause with a two-run homer – his third home run of the weekend – to spark the Tigers past Kentucky State 8-5.

Tyler D'Allesandro leads Salem with a .429 batting average through seven games. Six of his 12 hits have been for extra bases: five doubles and a home run. D'Allesandro and Curole share team-high honors with seven runs batted in.

The Tigers ranked third in the nation in stolen bases last year and are on pace in the early going with 18 thefts in 20 attempts.
Noah Suarez (4-for-4) and
Tyler Ault (3-for-3) are among 10 Tigers with at least one stolen base so far this season.

On the mound, Curole ranks 23rd in the nation with 31 strikeouts in just 17 2/3 innings pitched and ranks 21st in the nation with an average of 15.79 strikeouts per nine innings.

Mid-Atlantic Christian (1-8) took the first of a three-game home series last weekend against Piedmont International University for the Mustangs' first win in program history. Mid-Atlantic Christian is in its first year of baseball.

Salem begins a 12-game home stretch Wednesday as the Tigers play host to Alderson Broaddus University. First pitch is 4 p.m. at Frank Loria Memorial Field.
