Tyler Ault both singled twice in a nine-run first inning Salem University opened its four-game baseball series at Mid-Atlantic Christian University with a 23-8 victory over the Mustangs Friday at Elizabeth City, N.C. Ault paced Salem's 17-hit attack with three hits, while
Dominic Curole homered and doubled for the Tigers.

Salem (3-7) loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the first as
Noah Suarez and Ault both singled and Tyler D'Allesandro drew a walk. Curole followed with a double to put the Tigers on the scoreboard. Salem went on to send 13 batters to the plate in the opening frame.

Curole homered in a three-run third inning and
Dalton Robison's leadoff single triggered a two-run fourth inning to extend Salem's lead to 14-1.
Trey Hissam's double and
Adlai Muench's triple highlighted a six-run fifth inning as Salem reached the 20-run mark. The Tigers added the final three runs in the sixth inning of the scheduled seven-inning game.

Jaryd Lund (1-0) limited Mid-Atlantic Christian to one unearned run in five innings in his second start of the season. Lund struck out four and allowed only two hits.

Mid-Atlantic Christian (1-9) scored seven of its runs in the final two innings.

The two teams play a doubleheader Saturday and wrap up the series with a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.
