Jordan Forbes scored 23 points and Salem University overcame a sluggish start as the Tigers extended their winning streak to six with a 105-64 victory over Cheyney University in NCAA Division II men's basketball Monday at Cheyney, Pa.
Stan Smith added 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists, while
Joseph Powell pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.

Salem (13-7) trailed by as many as five points in the early going before
Marko Tutunovic drove the lane for a dunk to even the score 10-10 with 14:15 left in the first half.
Aleksa Dobrijevic,
Ralph Diaz and
Shawn Christian followed with three-pointers and
Jordan Forbes' dunk and free throw completed a 17-3 run to give the Tigers a 22-13 lead with 9:45 remaining.

Powell's three-pointer with 6:19 left extended Salem's lead to 31-21 and the margin stayed at double figures the remainder of the contest. The lead cracked the 20-point mark for the first time when Forbes's alley-oop slam dunk and
Stan Smith's three-pointer gave the Tigers a 45-23 lead. Cheyney never got closer than 19 and the Tigers went into the locker room with a 54-32 halftime advantage after a Forbes three-pointer in the final seconds.

The lead reached 30 points after
Ralph Diaz hit both free throws exactly three minutes into the second half to make the score 68-38.
Marqui Grant's three-pointer with 1:58 remaining put the Tigers over the 100-point mark for the fourth time this season. Grant finished with a season-high 10 points off the bench.

Scott McGann pulled down eight boards for Salem, which outrebounded Cheyney 61-38.

Salem returns to action Thursday afternoon as the Tigers play host to Chowan University in a rare weekday matinee contest. Tip-off is 1 p.m. at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.
