Salem University was swept by West Liberty University in a softball doubleheader Sunday at West Liberty, W.Va. The Tigers fell 6-0 in game one and 15-3 in game two.

In the opener, Salem (3-5) fell behind 5-0 after two innings as West Liberty scored three runs in the first and two runs in the second. The Tigers threatened in the top of the fourth with runners on second and third, but were unable to push a run across the plate. Salem was limited to two hits as
Rosey Romick broke up the Hilltoppers' no-hit bid with a two-out single in the fifth.

In game two, West Liberty (4-3) loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the first. The Tigers allowed only a single run on a sacrifice fly, but the Hilltoppers broke the game open with an 11-run second inning.

Salem avoided the shutout with two runs in the top of the fourth.
Destinee Baldwin came home with the first run on
Sydney McPherson's rbi-groundout and
Katrya Traylor scored on
Kimberly Reckling's two-out rbi-single.
Casey Moritz led off the fifth with a double and eventually scored on Traylor's single.

Mackenzie Ringer may have had the defensive play of the game in the bottom of the fourth. With runners on first and second, Ringer fielded a base hit and threw the lead runner out at the plate.

Salem was scheduled to play host to Washington Adventist University Monday for the Tigers' home opener, but the doubleheader has been postponed until March 27. Salem is idle until the Tigers begin play March 10 in the Spring Games at Winter Haven, Fla. Salem is scheduled to play 10 games in seven days.
