Salem University fell to Ohio Valley University 8-2 in NCAA II baseball Monday at Frank Loria Memorial Field. The contest was originally scheduled for this past Friday, but pushed back due to the weather.

Salem (8-10) was held scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when
Kasey Buchanan lined a one-out single to center for the Tigers' first hit of the game. Buchanan stole second and scored on
Tyler Ault's two-out double down the left field line.

The Tigers added a run in the seventh when
Austin Whetzel lined the first pitch of the inning over the left field fence for his first home run of the season.

Ohio Valley (3-9) capitalized on an error and a wild pitch in a four-run first inning. The Fighting Scots added single runs in four of the next five innings.

Cortland Hampton, the third Tiger pitcher, allowed only one hit in three scoreless innings to close out the game.

Salem was scheduled to host Frostburg State University Wednesday, but the game has been canceled. The Tigers are back in action this weekend for a four-game series against Clarion University at Frank Loria Memorial Field. The two teams play a doubleheader Friday beginning at 2 p.m. and another doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
