Salem, WV – Salem University women's basketball use strong first quarter offense to take down Frostburg State University 83-70 at home on Wednesday.
Daniela Quesada led all scorers with 21 followed by Nerea Arambarri Fernandez with 17 points and seven rebounds. Ixsamar Gonzalez contributed 12 rebounds on the night.
The Tigers struck first and never looked back scoring the first ten points of the game. The Tigers closed out the first quarter scoring 13 consecutive points to go into the second ahead, 35-10. The Tigers built their lead to 27 after a midrange jumper from Fernandez at the eight-minute mark. The Bobcats scored the last four of the quarter to cut the Tigers lead to 19 going into the half.
The Bobcats went on a 7-0 run early out of the half and then a 10-0 run to pull within 6 of the Tigers going into the final quarter. The Bobcats opened the fourth with a basket to trail by four, but the Tigers answered with back-to-back buckets to keep FSU from getting any closer for the remainder of the game.
