Bluefield, WV- Salem University Men's Basketball had a rematch with Bluefield State on Sunday. Salem lost in overtime to Bluefield on Saturday, and looked to bounce back on Sunday to go 1-1 in the 2021 series with BSC. For the third double header road trip in a row, the Tigers would be able to go 1-1 in the series and beat Bluefield on Sunday 63-48.
Jordan Forbes led the Tigers with a game-high of 21 points along with 9 rebounds, and 5 assists.
How it Happened:
First Half:

Barron Tanner got Salem on the board first at the
18:21 mark with a layup.
- Bluefield would go on a 11-2 run over the next three minutes into the media timeout.
- Salem tied it up with
11:45 to go in the half off of a
Jordan Forbes layup (7-0 Salem run).
- Salem took its first lead in nine minutes of play with a Fonz hale layup (17-15).
- A Bluefield three-pointer would give them the lead back at the
6:41 mark.
- With
4:34 left in the half Salem would call a timeout to regroup after a 9-0 run from Bluefield.

Barron Tanner and
Jordan Forbes would both hit three-pointers as part of an 8-0 run to take the lead (25-24) with
2:41 left in the half.
Second half:

Barron Tanner would score five of the first seven points of the half, The Tigers led 35-30 at the
17:45 mark.
- A nifty pass from
Demaris McNeil found
Jordan Forbes under the basket for a layup that gave the Tigers a six point lead with
13:23 on the clock.
- Back to back deep threes from
Jordan Forbes gave the Tigers an 11 point lead with
10:43 to go.
- On back to back to possessions Forbes would hit a contested jump shot and Fonz hale would drain a three pointer to take a 15 point lead (57-42) with
5:26to go.
- Salem would only allow six more points to be scored (only 22 total in second half for Bluefield) as they went on to victory.
Stat Highlights:
Fonz Hale would have a season high in assists (6) and rebounds (8), while
Jordan Forbes scored 20+ points for the fifth time this season.
Men's Basketball will play again when they travel to Benedict College in South Carolina on Thursday.
