West Union, WV- Salem University softball took game one against Carlow University 8-4, but fell 12-7 in game two. The Tigers had 22 during the double header, six of those coming from center fielder Ashlee Hedrick.
Game One:
The Tigers capitalized on a series of Carlow errors to go ahead 8-0 in the third. Kimberly Reckling, Emily Gonzalez, Ricki Garay, and Mackenzie Ringer all collected singles during this inning while Ashlee Hedrick collected a single, double and four RBIs. Christine Bombardier got the win for the Tigers throwing seven innings giving up seven hits, four runs and striking out two. Until the fourth, Bombardier had previously went 20 innings without getting a run scored on her.
Game Two:
After trailing two in the second, Syriah Trujillo singled up the middle to bring in one. The Tigers put up four in the third, three of those coming from a double to left center by Ringer to go ahead 5-2. The Celtics added two in the fourth to pull within one of the Tigers. The Tigers answered with a single from Gonzalez to drive in two to stretch the lead to 7-4. Timely hits from Carlow put them ahead 12-7 to end the game.
The Tigers will host Malone University on Tuesday, March 30th with the first game of the double header starting at 3pm.
