Salem University baseball walks off in their final home game of the season against Alderson Broaddus 14-13. Dalton Robison had a big day for the Tigers starting at second then coming to the mound in the ninth to strike out two and having two homeruns and a single at the plate.
After the Battlers put one on the board early, the Tigers answered back with three in the first off of a two RBI single to left field from Jerrod Johnmeyer and a left field single by Robison to bring in one. Johnmeyer homered to left field in the third to add to the Tiger lead 6-2. The Battlers added six in the fourth to go ahead 8-6. In the fifth, the Tigers pulled within one after an error by the Battlers. Austin Whetzel put the Tigers back on top in the sixth with a double to left center that brought in two. The Battlers added two in the seventh, but the Tigers quickly answered to tie it up with a homerun to left field by Robison. Alderson Broaddus put up three to go ahead 13-10 in the eighth. Going into the ninth down by two, Robison had his second homerun on the day to put the Tigers down by one. Austin Earl tied it up with a double down the left field line. The Battlers intentionally walked Brett Graham to load the bases. The Tigers then looked to Tyler Shinn to pitch hit with one out. Shinn was able to be selective at the plate to draw the walk that brought in the winning run.
The Tigers will travel to University of North Georgia for their final series of the 2021 season starting with one game on April 30th at 5 p.m.
