Salem University Volleyball dropped two against University of Pittsburgh (25-12, 25-12, 25-15) at Johnstown and West Liberty University (25-11, 25-14, 25-12) on Tuesday.
Game One:
UPJ jumped out to an early lead in set one and maintained that lead to take the set. The Tigers started set two strong taking a 3-1 lead after a kill by Mykenzie Clyncke and
Lenka Jakovljevic and a UPJ error. After back-and-forth scoring, UPJ took the lead 11-10. The Tigers quickly tied it up 11 after a UPJ error. UPJ then went on to take set two and the final set of the game.
Danielle Burns lead the Tigers with six kills and seven digs.
Deyaneira Gomez-Salgado contributed 13 digs.
Game Two:
West Liberty took an early lead 8-1 in game two. The Tigers were able to score five consecutive points to pull within two before the Hilltoppers pulled away with the 25-11 win in set one. The Tigers started set two with a kill by
Makhia Hinton. Later in set two, the Tigers attempted to close the gap by scoring three in a row to make it 16-11. The Tigers would go on to score three more before falling to the Hilltoppers in set two. The Tigers went on a three-point rally late in set three with a kill by
Yesenia Munoz and
Makhia Hinton and an ace from  Gomez – Salgado before falling to the Hilltoppers.
The Tigers will be back in action Friday with two games against Clarion University and Lock Haven University starting at 1 p.m.
